HOT NEWS

 2008 - 2009
  • The club kicks of its new winter session on Tuesday 16th of September with ‘Presidents Night’ when anything can happen.

  • Sponsorship for this year has been arranged with local photographic businesses Hector Macdonald, Vennel Cameras and Jessops. This will enable us to award a range of really useful vouchers to winning competitors in addition to the usual trophies.

  • The club has a packed syllabus of lectures, competitions and workshops planned for the coming year.  If you feel that photography is something you want to get more involved with why don’t you come along and find out what the club is all about.  There is something for beginners through to advanced.

As usual, we will meet every Tuesday in the South Parish Church Hall at 7:30 pm

We also hold practical nights on the second Thursday of each month in the same venue.

The club’s annual exhibition will be held on March 31st 2009  (venue to be arranged)
South Ayrshire Council have again invited members of Girvan Camera Club, Ayr Photographic Society and OIR Photography Group, Ayr, to submit images for their 2009 Calendar.  The theme is "Year of the Homecoming" and categories are Burns; Whisky; Golf; Scottish Enlightenment & Innovation and Scottish Ancestry.

We are delighted to participate and hope that GCC's entries are as successful as they were in 2007 ...

Two members of Girvan Camera Club, Andy Scott and Sue Jones, entered some shots which proved to be very popular with the selection committee which resulted in them each having 5 photographs used for the calendar.  The calendars have been available in SAC premises free of charge and were created as a vehicle for publishing essential facts and figures to the residents of South Ayrshire.
